News > Club Update - Brett Lovell
It is with understanding of everyone involved we have to confirm to Brett Lovell has stepped down as manager of Penistone Church FC.
You’ll see from Brett’s words below why, but for now all we can say is a massive thanks to Brett who has been an absolute stalwart for the club for 7 years. Brett played 261 games for us scoring 54 goals in his time.
He will be welcomed back when the time is right for him and the family, until then he knows its his round and he’s an unpaid tab, so he’ll be back!
Thanks for everything Brett.
Brett asked we share this:
"Unfortunately with great sadness I am having to make a u-turn on the managers role for PCFC. Some very recent events in my home life has made me feel that at 38 after 20 years dedication to non league football my time and support is needed at home at the moment with my wife and my three girls.
I would not be able to dedicate the time and commitment that this great club deserves in a new Manager and I would always feel like I would be letting everyone down if I did.
Unfortunately the phrase ‘family comes first’ is true, so spending more time with the family is my number one priority.
I have some wonderful friends for life at this great football club and I hope people will remember my time here with great fondness, I always give 100% when I pull the black and white stripes on and we have achieved many great things together as a club something which fills me with immense pride and joy.
To everyone associated at the club I wish you all health, happiness and success in what ever you do. I won’t be a stranger as my eldest daughter plays for the girls U13 team and I am sure we will pop up from time to time to cheer on the club but the time is right for me to move away from non league football for the time being and dedicate more time to my family.
Who knows over time how things will pan out, so I’ll also add that this may not be the definite end to my footballing career.
For now I hope everyone will understand my decision, UTC!
