A sloping pitch which is set in beautiful surroundings was the setting for this FA vase meeting. This was Brett Lovell's first match as the Church manager.
Bacup had a good hold of midfield in the first 10 minutes and Church worked hard to create any space. Bacup had signs of quality and created the first opening, but this went high and wide.
20 minutes in a Church started to find their feet. Nicky Guest had a low shot from the right edge of the box saved by the goalie. Bacup immediately created an opening but Chris Snaith tipped the ball over the bar.
Bacup picked up the ball from their own box. They played a couple of neat pases and a deft touch set Lewis-Simon Byrne free on the half way line. He took the ball at pace down the centre, beating Chris Snaith on the edge of the box and scored in the empty Church goal.

Church were on the front foot following the goal and created 2 decent openings, but could not convert either. However, the signs were promising and Church had the better of the next 15 minutes.
Church won a freekick in a good position to the left of goal on the edge of the box. However, it was struck hard straight at the goalie.
Halftime Bacup 1 PCFC 0
Elliot Firth replaced the injured Eddie Newsome. Church were unhappy right from the kick off when a push on Nicky Guest went unpunished.
A 10 minute spell of end to end exchanges tested both defences.
Bacup worked the ball into the Church box and a powerful diagonal shot hit the far post and bounced away to safety.
Church worked the ball well down the right and a great cross from Tom Charlesworth went unpunished.
60 minutes in and Luke Stewart was sin-binned for throwing the ball down hard: in front of the linesman.
Church could not clear a corner from the right and a 25 yard Bacup shot from the centre of the park went a yard wide.
After 70 minutes Nicky Guest was replaced by Bradley Kemp
81 minutes in and Church for the first time, were really pushing Bacup back.
87 minutes in and a beautiful cross was partly met by Luke Stewart at the far post, but the offside flag was up.
Bacup had a good chance at the other end. Chris Snaith saved the weak shot with ease.
91 minutes Jordan Coduri had a great low shot from the edge of the box but the goalie saved.
A last minute corner to Church was cleared and the despairing shot from 30 yards sailed wide.

The match ended in good spirits but Church were clearly disappointed with the result. However they had played well and had a brilliant attitude and on another day they would probably have drawn the game.
